A tentative agreement for peace officers

An agreement in principle was reached overnight from Friday to Saturday between Quebec and the Union of Peace Officers in Correctional Services of Quebec (SAPSCQ-CSN).

The agreement reached will be presented at a special union council which is scheduled for the next week.

“It was after intense discussions at the negotiating table that progress was made. The mobilization efforts have had a real impact and have enabled your bargaining committee to obtain an agreement in principle,” reads a statement from the union sent to its members on Saturday.

“This agreement demonstrates the importance we place on their work. The agreement will be submitted to the members soon,” said Sonia LeBel, President of the Treasury Board, on Twitter on Saturday.

Remember that a demonstration was held at the beginning of March to put pressure on the negotiations.

The union represents more than 2,800 officers who work in 18 detention facilities across the province.
