Informed of the criminal intentions of the individual, the police opened an investigation very quickly, in particular by obtaining a search warrant, according to the statements collected.

The suspect, Dimitri Xenos, worked in a restaurant and it is here that he would have verbalized his intentions. He intended to go to the Labri Educational Center with weapons, and also to the Graffiti Café-theater in Port-Cartier.

He would also have asked a colleague where he could get grenades.

Xenos was arrested and his home searched. Two semi-automatic weapons were discovered there.

The man is incarcerated. He was charged with death threats against three women and a man, as well as possession of a weapon in a dangerous design.

The Iron School Service Center said it had been informed of the situation, without knowing the extent of it.

“The Sûreté du Québec is there to support us, I think we are on the lookout. We are vigilant in our sector, we know that these are events that can occur, we do not want them, ”commented Richard Poirier, Director of the Service Center.

Each year an attack simulation is carried out, and the next one will take place on October 8.
