‘A history of literature’, own goal on TV-3, by Emma Riverola

TV-3 premieres program: ‘A history of literature’. If she intended to surprise, she succeeded. Pathetic Catalan culture own goal. In the words of the editor Maria Bohigas (what a great Minister of Culture she would be), “a literature program in which everything revolves around the fact of not reading it”. She also priceless her note on TV3: “The mixture of ignorance and petulance is the basis of the grid of Catalan public channels & rdquor ;. Little more to add to such precision.

The program included the usual: some giggles because we are very modern and provocative (and how stale it is), some burlitas to ‘the Spanish’ (because we already know that we are much better) and a procession of the canonical faces of the house (that ruminant spirit). There are many ways to approach culture in a television program. From provocation, information, elitism, erudition… Doing it from contempt is a difficult achievement to achieve. That above is with public money is a sad humiliation. It was enough to replicate Betevé’s ‘Àrtic’ program, a loss that we did not deserve. If this is all the defense that TV-3 knows how to make of Catalan literature, turn off and leave. They can drop the pianist from the show.
