A good Samaritan saves a couple from drowning

A resident of Pontiac, in the Outaouais region, saved a man and a woman in their twenties from drowning in the Quyon area on Sunday evening.

Public Security of the MRC des Collines received two calls around 6:45 p.m. about two people in distress, without further details due to poor reception.

“We obtained the help of firefighters from Pontiac and La Pêche to carry out several checks and try to locate people,” said Public Security.

The couple who live in Ottawa whose canoe capsized on the Ottawa River, near Dion Road, were saved by the Samaritan who heard cries of distress.

It was a friend of the rescuer who notified the police around 9:15 p.m. of this happy ending, according to the police, specifying that the two people were wearing their personal flotation devices.
