A former elected official in Montreal wants to get into the provincial

Four months after losing her seat in the last municipal elections, Suzie Miron, who notably served as president of the Montreal city council, would like to make the leap into provincial politics.

“I’m working hard to win back my riding for Québec Solidaire,” she wrote on her Twitter account, in response to a text from The Press about his intentions.

She will seek the nomination of the party in order to be able to represent it in the provincial elections, which should take place in the fall.

Ms. Miron was elected in Montreal in 2017, as city councilor for the district of Tétreaultville, in the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. In 2020, she had also been appointed as the president of the city council of the City. Ms. Miron, however, lost her seat in the following elections by a total of 42 votes, after a judicial recount.

The riding of Bourget, where she would start, is currently represented by Richard Campeau, of the Coalition avenir Québec.

In January, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, leader of the Parti Québécois, indicated that he would run in the same riding.
