A fool paints the facade of the centenary grocery store Múrria

A fool (and let everyone replace this word with the one they prefer) attacked the facade of one of the most emblematic shops in Barcelona, the Queviures Murria, on the corner of Roger de Llúria and Aragó streets. The vandal painted the shutters of the establishment with blue paint, so far something annoying but relatively easy to correct, but he also left his stupid imprint on the wood carpentry and on the beautiful and centennial billboard on the cornerdesigned by Ramon Casas and executed by Turon Moya.

The owner of the establishment, Joan Murria, is seriously worried about the damage. It is not the first time that the store has suffered this type of aggression. “It happened to us six years ago and also eight years ago, the difference is that this time the graffiti goes from end to end, they have dirty everything”he regrets, on the one hand because it is a type of damage that insurance companies they do not cover and, on the other, because they believe that this is an endemic evil that is the fault of the negligence of the municipal authorities.

No one patrols the streets on foot, no longer to catch the uncivic at the time of the aggression, but even if it is only for the deterrent effect it would have&rdquor ;, maintains Múrria. “We still maintain the tradition that every day, after raising the blind, we sweep the piece of sidewalk in front of the store, and then, when something like this happens, you feel very helpless & rdquor ;, he adds.

What an unidentified moment imbecile has damaged is a store founded in 1904 which was bought by the Múrria family in 1943 by Joan’s father, Josep, also co-founder of another iconic establishment in the city, Colmado Quílez. The author of the graffiti, what has been said, it is not known who he is, but in these cases there is a protocol that perhaps remotely can allow him to put a face on it. The Barcelona City Council photographs the graffiti that are carried out furtively in the city and classifies themespecially if it is about the so-called ‘tags’ (quick signatures of the author) in case one of those vandals is caught in full action and thus pass the joint fine of all their attacks.
