A cold drop from the manual leaves twelve communities on alert for snow this Tuesday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) keeps 12 communities on alert that Tuesday, half of them at orange level (significant risk), due to rain, wind and snowfall that they can reach up to 25 centimeters thick in the Central System.

Aragon, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalunya, La Rioja and the Valencian Community are on orange alert (significant risk), while in Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Galicia, Community of Madrid and Navarra there is a yellow warning (risk) during the day this Tuesday.

In addition, Catalonia has the orange alert activated, in this case due to rain in the province of Tarragona of up to 40 liters in one hour and 100 liters in 12 hours, sometimes in the form of a storm and accompanied by strong wind and waves up to 8 meters high. Snowfall is also expected in the upper reaches of the Pyrenees.

In the case of Aragon, the orange alert is for snowfalls that could accumulate up to 20 centimeters thick in 24 hours at altitudes above 800 meters and rainfall of up to 25 liters in an hour is also expected in the province of Teruel.

In Castilla y León the orange alert is for snow accumulations of up to 25 centimeters between 900 and 1,100 meters of altitude in 24 hours in the Central and Iberian Systems, the same as in Castilla-La Mancha, where precipitation can reach 20 centimeters thick in the Sierra de Guadalajara at dawn, above the 1,2000 1,300 meters of altitude.

In La Rioja they are expected up to 25 centimeters of precipitation as snow in 24 hours and at elevations between 900 and 1,200 meters.

In the Valencian community the orange alert is activated for rain, sometimes with a storm, that would accumulate 100 liters per square meter in 12 hours on the Castellón coast, while in the interior of this province there is a risk of snowfall of up to 4 centimeters thick above 1,000 meters and in 24 hours.

In Asturias there is a yellow warning (risk) for rains of up to 50 liters in 12 hours, waves of 4 to 5 meters and snow in Picos de Europa 15 centimeters thick above 1,000 meters and up to 30 centimeters at heights above 1,200 meters.

In the Balearic Islands the yellow alert is for rainfall of up to 20 liters in an hour in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera, occasionally accompanied by a storm and strong wind and in Cantabria there is a warning for snowfalls in 24 hours of between 5 and 30 centimeters and at altitudes above 900 or 1,000 meters.
