The City of Regina says 92 percent of city employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
A city spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that 162 employees have yet to provide a negative COVID-19 test result.
Active city employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative result as of October.
“I believe the continuing message that vaccines are the way to prevent serious infections and hospitalization will continue to hammer that home. I am very proud of the citizens of Regina in terms that they have stepped up and are going to get vaccinated, ”Regina Mayor Sandra Masters said Tuesday.

Weekly COVID-19 testing costs for employees were covered by the city through November 15.
However, city workers now have to take care of paying for their COVID-19 tests if they are not vaccinated.
Masters added that current health measures are working to reduce the risks of COVID-19 transmission.
“We all have to do our part. We all play a role in public health. It’s called that for a reason, ”said the mayor.
“We have a series of events going on and coming up that people want to participate in, so we want people to get vaccinated for them.”
