The health unit says it has delivered more than 338,000 doses of the vaccine.

“I am very proud of our community and the people who live in Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington for achieving this goal,” said Dr. Piotr Oglaza, the region’s medical health officer.

Oglaza credits the high vaccination rate in the area as a boon for the region that currently has a high number of cases.

Due to the efforts of everyone in the community, nearly 90 percent of people have chosen to get vaccinated, Oglaza said, adding: “This fourth wave is more of a tsunami than a tsunami.” he said.

Now the health unit says it is coordinating plans to vaccinate the rest of the community, especially those aged five to 11, when vaccines are approved for that age group.
