a 70% of sick people of covid-19 entered as of today, hospitals in Catalonia are not vaccinated, a situation that worries, as said this Monday by the covid hospitalization coordinator at the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Robert Güerri.
Güerri has made this consideration about people not yet vaccinated in Catalonia in an interview-colloquium in Catalunya Ràdio, together with the head of Epidemiology of the Hospital Clínic, Antoni Trilla, and the head of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology of the Hospital Vall d’Hebron , Magda Campins.
The three specialists have insisted that the unvaccinated people go ahead and get vaccinated, not only to protect themselves from COVID-19 infection but also to protect people who suffer from serious diseases, such as cancer, which make them more at risk for the disease.
The arrival of the flu
“Need a few days to see the impact on hospitals (of the increase in cases), and we are concerned about the situation of the unvaccinated, a group that will end up being infected and may suffer from serious forms of the virus, “he said.
Campins, for his part, has indicated that it may be necessary end up vaccinating those under 12 years of age “if we want to protect the entire population” from the covid.
Another concern now of doctors, given the rebound in the pandemic observed days ago in Catalonia, is that they coincide many cases of covid with the flu, since “it would be the worst scenario for hospitals, and it is a possible scenario”, has considered Güerri.
