50 voices unite to promote the poetry of Latin American women

The work of women poets from Mexico, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Colombia, El Salvador and Chile will be broadcast on video as part of the project “50 voices for poets”, promoted by the Mexican Art Initiative that brought together personalities from 9 countries in 3 continents as part of the second edition of the Fiesta Mexicana de Arte 2021.

In this effort to publicize the creation of women writers originating in Latin America, contemporary indigenous poets stand out, to which celebrities originating from Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, France, Spain, Cuba and Egypt have been added, among who stand out the physicist and influencer Ophelia Pastrana, the actor and activist Tenoch Huerta, the National Officer of the United Nations Information Center in Mexico, Mariana Castro; the conductor Andrés Salado, the actress and comedian Michelle Rodríguez, singers such as María Katzarava, Ramón Vargas, Tania Libertad and José Alfredo Jiménez Medel, the poet Fabio Morábito and a large list of journalists from the region.

The program will be nurtured with poems by Irma Pineda, Natalia Toledo, Mikeas Sánchez, Celerina Sánchez, María Clara Sharupi, Piedad Bonett, Gioconda Belli, among other poets from the region.

The second edition of Fiesta Mexicana de Arte 2021 is dedicated to making visible the work of women in culture to combat racism, classism, sexism and other violence, as well as to honor the tenacity of the searching mothers of their disappeared relatives and show solidarity with your cause.

The program includes two round tables: “Racism and the mass media” —with the participation of María Clara Sharupi (Shuar Nation, Ecuador), Mikeas Sánchez (Chiapas, Mexico) and Felina Santiago Valdivieso (Oaxaca, Mexico) and the leadership of Johnny Carmona; and “Youth and Written Media” —a conversation with the editors of C de Cultura, Tierra Adentro and Mexicana de Arte moderated by Eleane Herrera.

At the same time, the series “They make the news” will be presented, where Eleane Herrera Montejano and Mauricio Elí will talk with journalists, writers and publirrelacionistas, as well as the concert #HastaEncontrarles: Tribute to the Seeking Mothers of Mexico, on November 25 at the Teatro de Esperanza Iris City.

The broadcasts of tables and poetry readings can be seen free of charge through the Capital 21 television signal and Mexicana de Arte social networks respectively, while tickets for #HastaEncontrarles are already available at Ticketmaster and the Esperanza Iris Theater box office. , with locations from 100 to 500 Mexican pesos, with the usual discounts.
