A 46-year-old man died Monday night after being hit by a Société de transport de Montréal bus in the Villeray district.
Montreal police said the victim, who was found trapped under the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 53-year-old bus driver was taken to hospital for treatment for shock. There were no passengers aboard the vehicle at the time of the accident.
A preliminary investigation has established that the incident occurred around 11 p.m., when the bus was heading west on De Castelnau Street and was in the process of turning left onto Chateaubriand Avenue.
A call to 911 summoned the first responders to the scene.
