44 new COVID-19 cases in Kingston region, 310 active – Kingston | The Canadian News

KFL & A Public Health announced another large increase in COVID-19 cases locally on Friday.

The Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington Health Unit recorded 44 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing active cases to 310. Both numbers are just below the all-time highs seen recently in the Ontario region, with most cases ever recorded. recorded in one day (47) seen on November 23 and the most active cases (311) seen on November 28.

Hospitalizations remain high, with 18 people in the hospital, 11 of whom are in intensive care and nine on ventilators.

As of Friday, the case rate among unvaccinated people is nearly five times higher than among those vaccinated.

Over the past seven days, more than 9,100 people have been tested for COVID-19, and about 2.6 percent of those people have tested positive.
