The Mossos d’Esquadra have dismantled a warehouse for managing illegal waste where was 2,919 butane cylinders stored “without any security measure” in Montcada i Reixac (Barcelona). The Catalan police reported this Saturday that three people are charged with misappropriation and that they intended to send the metal vessels to Nigeria What Luxury articles.
The butane cylinders were located last Tuesday. They were of “illicit origin” and were badly stacked in trailers and on the ground of a vacant lot. Specifically, they kept 10% of gas inside, so the accused had accumulated up to 3,500 liters of gas in “terrible security conditions”, the Catalan police reported in a statement.
By sea along with other objects
The pots were being prepared to be shipped in containers by Seaway for sale in Nigeria, along with appliances, machinery and other items that were also found on the site. In addition to putting safety at stake, the three investigated used a leased site dedicated to waste management that was in poor condition and represented a health problem.

One of the three investigated already had a history of misappropriation of butane cylinders to be sent to Africa, where they are sold at a very high price, the Mossos have specified. Another of the defendants was reported administratively for not having the necessary records for waste management and also developing this activity without the corresponding legal authorization.
The Mossos have returned the cylinders to the Spanish and Portuguese companies that own them.
