$253 million for the Mauricie transmission network

Work sites will increase in Mauricie over the next two years, in particular thanks to the $253 million granted by Quebec to carry out 69 projects to maintain and improve the road network.

Some of these large-scale projects are already known and even underway, such as the reinforcement of the Pont des Piles in Shawinigan. Also, the replacement of the central strip of Autoroute 40 in the urban sector of Trois-Rivières will be completed this year. “It started two years ago, we did one phase per year. This year is the last phase, ”assured the spokesperson for the Quebec Ministry of Transport, Roxanne Pellerin.

The envelope is divided into three major major investments. There is $11.7 million to ensure a quality and safe network. More than $57.7 million for pavement maintenance. The structures are the most expensive for a total of $183.6 million, including part of the replacement of the central slab of the Laviolette bridge for $100 million.

“You have to remember that it’s 261 million for all the work, but the investments announced today are spread over two years. The project is in a preparatory phase this fall and the bulk of the work will begin next year, so 2023, 2024 and 2025,” added Ms. Pellerin.

In Trois-Rivières, motorists will have to get used to a few new detours and the appearance of several orange cones. The amounts granted provide for the reconstruction of the bridge on Thibeau Boulevard, above the Québec-Gatineau railway. “He needed a little love. In fact, lots of love. We have to do it again, it was at the end of its lifespan, ”explained the provincial deputy for Maskinongé, Simon Allaire.

These new projects should benefit Mauricie. A blessing in disguise, according to the minister responsible for the region, Jean Boulet, who believes that the economic benefits will be considerable. “This is an additional amount that will help create jobs in the construction sector, in engineering,” commented the Minister. This is good news in all respects. I repeat, quality of life, safety of Mauritians and contribution to economic growth.”
