Alcohol and speed could have played a role in a traffic accident that left a man seriously injured in Île-Perrot, in Montérégie, on Friday night.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old man, is fighting for his life in hospital.

Emergency services were notified shortly after midnight of the accident that occurred on Northbound Perrot Blvd.

“It is a vehicle that went off the road to hit a tree. The 23-year-old driver remained in the vehicle. In addition, the firefighters had to use the jaws of life to remove it, ”said Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec.

The seriously injured man was taken to hospital, where his life was still in danger on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred in a place where the maximum speed allowed is 50 km / h. The driver was alone in his vehicle.

The accident is being investigated by SQ.
