Six people have been charged under the Cannabis Act after Ontario Provincial Police seized $ 22 million worth of illegal marijuana.

On October 14, the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team executed search warrants at two greenhouse locations and two homes in Vineland and St. Catharines.

Agents seized 21,000 illegal potted plants and 181 kilograms of processed cannabis.

Under the Cannabis Law, the six people were charged with attempting to distribute and grow or harvest cannabis in a place other than their own home.

The defendants include Xiaoqiang Wang, 34, and Ming Hua Xue, 59, both from Toronto, Xiao Chen, 34, and Erxiang Sun, 35, both from Scarborough, and Xiaping Lin, 67, and Qiangzheng Sun, 51, both. of St. Catharines.

OPP says the investigation is ongoing.
