US judge expected to rule on jail sentence for former Canadian Forces reservist Patrik Mathews on Thursday | The Canadian News

Former Canadian Armed Forces Reservist Patrik Mathews is expected to know on Thursday how long he will be behind bars in the United States.

Mathews, 28, of Beausejour, Man., Had already pleaded guilty to weapons charges related to his role in a white supremacist plot to start a race war in America.

At the beginning of the hearing, Chuang said that he is considering a sentence of 12 to 15 years behind bars.

Prosecutors say Mathews’ crimes were serious, but his motives even more so, and that he should be sentenced to 25 years behind bars.
