The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
Six of the new cases were close contacts of confirmed cases, six were acquired in the community, and the sources of transmission for five are still under investigation.
To date, 20,471 local residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Of these, 173 cases are active, 464 people have died and 19,834 cases are considered resolved.
Twelve people who tested positive are hospitalized, including five in intensive care.
Workplace COVID outbreaks remain active at a farm in Leamington, a retail business in Leamington, and a healthcare and social care setting in Windsor.
There are also six active outbreak community settings: two community living settings in Windsor, a fitness and recreation setting in LaSalle, a religious organization in Windsor, a transportation setting in Windsor, and a correctional facility in Tecumseh.

So far, 85.5 percent of Windsor-Essex residents ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 81.1 percent are fully vaccinated.
