It was around 7:30 p.m. that the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported having first received a call to 911 for a request for intervention concerning a “person injured by a stabbing”, near the intersection of rue Marquette and boulevard Rosemont.

When the police arrived, the victim was conscious and injured in the lower body. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where there was no fear for her life. “His condition is stable at present,” confirmed in the evening a spokesperson for the police force, Caroline Chèvrefils.

“According to initial information, it is a conflict which would have degenerated between the victim and a suspect, for an unknown reason. The suspect would then have injured the victim with a bladed weapon, to then flee before the arrival of the police, ”said Mme Honeysuckles.

A security perimeter was erected in the vicinity to let investigators and a forensic technician analyze the scene. They will try to understand the circumstances and the exact causes of this event. Potential witnesses should also be met immediately.

Note that the soccer field where the assault occurred was temporarily closed. The SPVM did not report any arrests at the very end of the evening, Wednesday, and searches were still underway to identify the suspect.

Last Sunday, a police operation concerning a suspicious package took place in the same area, a few meters from Père-Marquette Park, near rue des Carrières at the intersection of avenue Papineau. The object was finally found to be safe, but the SPVM intervention tactical group still had to intervene. An investigation was also opened in this other case.
