Toni Nadal announced through the official Rafael Nadal Academy Twitter account on Thursday that he has joined the technical team of Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime.
“The director of the #RafaNadal Academy Toni Nadal went to Monte-Carlo, where he started a new collaboration with the technical team of Félix Auger-Aliassime,” said the tweet published in Spanish.
Auger-Aliassime published a photo of him and Toni Nadal on a clay court a few hours later, with the words “Welcome aboard Toni”.

Toni Nadal is considered by many observers to be the architect who allowed “Rafa” to be uncompromising on clay. The Mallorcan has won 13 career titles at the French Open – a record.
Toni Nadal led his nephew for over a decade before relinquishing his place to Carlos Moya in 2016.
The timing of announcing this new partnership is not trivial either, as the ATP clay-court portion of the calendar is about to begin.
Toni Nadal joins Auger-Aliassime coach Frédéric Fontang, who succeeded Guillaume Marx.
Auger-Aliassime is ranked 22nd in the world. The 20-year-old Quebecer is still looking for a first career title on the ATP circuit, having lost in each of his seven finals since his move to the professionals in 2017.
