Health studies imposing the mandatory use of FFP2 masks “in specific circumstances”

The director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES), Fernando Simón, has assured that the Ministry of Health does not rule out “making the use of FFP2 masks mandatory in some specific circumstances”.

At a press conference this Monday, the health spokesman said that “it may be reasonable” to extend the use of these masks, as some European countries such as Germany or Austria plan to do.

Unlike the surgical ones, more common among the population, the FFP2s are designed so that the person who wears them does not become infected, although they protect less than the surgical ones from contagion to other people.
