The pediatric unit at the Center hospitalier de Lanaudière (CHDL) in Joliette has been closed since Friday due to a lack of staff. Several nurses have had to be placed in isolation due to COVID-19 over the past few days.
“The unit was effectively closed temporarily on November 27 from 5 p.m. until today. A meeting will take place later this afternoon to assess the situation, ”confirms Hélène Gaboury, communications from the CISSS de Lanaudière.
We therefore proceeded with the closure so that staff members could assist teams in need.
Patients are still admitted to pediatrics, but if the child requires an operation, he will be transferred to Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital, in Lachenaie. Pediatric services also remain accessible for the Mother-Child-Family Unit (births and obstetrics) of the CHDL. The deliveries are therefore maintained at the CHDL.
