Black Friday postponed, the great confusion online

It was to take place this Friday, November 27. Exceptionally in this pandemic year, Black Friday have been reported in France with the endorsement of the main retail chains as well as Amazon, the real locomotive of this day focused on the most attractive promotions before Christmas.

This Friday, at Carrefour or Leclerc, as agreed, the Black Friday tab does not appear on the first page of their websites. Physically, no store has yet posted its rebates, since the vast majority of them will only open their doors anyway. this Saturday.

But it’s not the same story online. In fact, it only takes a few clicks to quickly find your way back to promotions. Since Black Friday is not postponed abroad, many large companies, especially in the field of new technologies (Google, Bose, Dyson …), are increasing the offers. The site Numerama had fun by presenting a compilation of what is best for this “almost Black-Friday”. French e-commerce players are also participating in this great online confusion.

“Beauty Days”, “Indigo Friday sales”

The main trick operated by the big French sites comes down to … renaming Black Friday. Among beauty specialists, the sales are (logically) renamed “Beauty Days”. It is also possible to come across “Funky Days”, but also “Indigo Friday sales”, at a famous brand of jeans. A roundabout way to carry out promotions despite everything. Others take less tweezers. On the site of the French specialist in low-cost decoration, Gifi, promotions are accompanied by the Black Friday logo, as if nothing had happened. On, the “Black Week” is already here, and with it discounts of up to -80% on sports accessories.

As a general rule, large e-commerce sites like Darty, Fnac or even Cdiscount invite people to “prepare for Christmas” with the help of numerous “flash sales” displaying slashed prices.

That was to be expected. The “postponement” of Black Friday only takes place on a voluntary basis, in solidarity with small businesses. “The smartest brands will be those who will maintain their promotions, saying that they are promotions for Christmas for example”, bet recently with the Parisian Raphaël Bartlomé, the head of the legal department of the UFC-Que Choisir. Well seen.
