(Quebec) Former PQ minister Marc-André Bédard died Wednesday after being hospitalized due to complications from COVID-19.
His son Stéphane Bédard, also a former minister of the Parti Québécois, confirmed on social networks in the morning that his 85-year-old father had taken over the management of the Chicoutimi hospital “following complications linked to COVID-19” .
The Parti Québécois expressed its condolences to the family and relatives of Mr. Bédard at the end of the morning, stressing that in addition to having been Minister and Member of Parliament for Chicoutimi, “he was also a close friend and advisor to René Lévesque and founding member of the Parti Québécois ”.
He was first elected in 1973. He was Minister of Justice in the Lévesque government from 1976 to 1984.
