WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, has released a redesigned storage management tool to help users identify and delete files in bulk.
The new tool groups large files and media that have been “forwarded many times” so that you can easily identify content that you no longer need or want. From there, you can quickly delete the files all at once.
This new tool is a step up from the current ‘storage usage’ feature that simply displays your current chats by the amount of space they take up and then allows you to remove the categories. While this is useful, it does not give you a way to explore the content you are removing.
The function is available in the settings menu under the category “manage storage”. WhatsApp notes that the new feature is rolling out to users around the world this week.
