MEXICO | A Mexican television journalist was shot dead on Thursday in Ciudad Juárez, near the border with the United States, Chihuahua governor Javier Corral, where the city is located, announced on Friday.
He is the sixth journalist to have been assassinated since the beginning of the year in Mexico.
The journalist, Arturo Alba Medina, 49, ran a news program on a Mexican channel, the last edition of which looked at corruption in some police agencies in the region. His body was found inside a vehicle, where eleven bullet casings were also found.
This new assassination of journalist follows that of Julio Valdivia, of the newspaper El Mundo of Veracruz, whose decapitated body was found on September 9.
In 2019, ten journalists were murdered in Mexico, according to the organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF).
