COVID-19: 1,094 new cases, six deaths


Quebec recorded 1094 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and six additional deaths on Sunday. The increase in hospitalizations continues, with ten more patients than the day before.

According to the most recent data, no deaths have been reported for the last 24 hours, but there are 3 deaths that occurred between October 11 and 16 and one that occurred before October 11. Two deaths occurring at an unknown date are added to the toll.

The six additional deaths are spread over five regions of Quebec. Two new deaths are reported in the Capitale-Nationale.

The Outaouais, Chaudière-Appalaches, Laurentians and Montérégie regions each have one new death.

Since the start of this pandemic, 6,038 Quebecers have succumbed to COVID-19.

Following the trend of the last days, the number of new infected people remains around 1000. There are 1094 cases recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 93,391.

The number of hospitalizations is still on the rise, with 10 more patients than the day before. In all, 527 people with COVID-19 are hospitalized. Sunday, it is reported that 60 infected people were admitted to a hospital and 50 left the hospital.

Of those hospitalized, 88 are in intensive care, three more than on Saturday.

The samples taken on October 16 amount to 22,650.

“Despite the stabilization of cases in the past two weeks, hospitalizations continue to climb. We must break the wave to slow down this increase and thus protect the most vulnerable people and our health network, ”said Minister of Health Christian Dubé shortly after the report was released.
