20-year-old man dies after accident in Kehewin Cree Nation

A man died after a collision in the Kehewin Cree Nation on Wednesday night.

At around 4:40 p.m. on November 10, Bonnyville RCMP responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 657 and Range Road 460.

The RCMP says its investigation revealed that a car heading east lost control and jammed a guardrail before being struck by an oncoming vehicle.

A 20-year-old man from the Kehewin Cree Nation died at the scene, while a 49-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Mounties said.

Kehewin Cree Nations emergency services and emergency medical services also attended the scene.

The Bonnyville RCMP continues to investigate the accident with the help of a collision analyst from the Alberta RCMP.

RCMP says the 20-year-old’s closest relatives have been notified and are being assisted by Bonnyville Victim Services and RCMP.

Kehewin Cree Nation is located about 236 miles northeast of Edmonton.
