2 Women Charged In Meadow Lake Kidnapping Investigation: RCMP | The Canadian News

The Saskatchewan RCMP indicted two Meadow Lake women after alleged kidnappings earlier this week.

The RCMP statement said Wednesday around 3 a.m., RCMP officers from Meadow Lake and Loon Lake were dispatched to a reported kidnapping.

One woman reported that she had been taken at gunpoint from the Center St. area of ​​Meadow Lake around 1:15 a.m. M.

She was later dropped off in a rural area near Barthel, Sask. and called the police. RCMP says the woman was robbed but not injured.

The woman told police there was a second victim.

With the help of other RCMP units, Meadow Lake RCMP began searching for the woman, as well as two suspects and the two cars reported to be driving. Both cars were determined to have been stolen.

Later Wednesday, the Grande Prairie RCMP was called into a report from a woman who said she had escaped kidnappers in the city of Grande Prairie.

Investigators determined that the woman was the second kidnapping victim. The woman had injuries that were not life-threatening.

RCMP officers arrested Lana Aubichon, 36, and Janelle Chatelaine, 28, in Grande Prairie on Thursday.

Aubichon and Chatelaine are charged with two counts of kidnapping with a firearm, two counts of using a firearm during a robbery, one count of making threats and one count of possessing a weapon while prohibited.

Aubichon faces an additional charge for violating a suspended sentence order.

Both women are scheduled for their first court appearance in Meadow Lake on September 23.
