16-year-old boy charged with first-degree murder after fatal shooting in September in Mississauga

Peel police arrested and charged a second person with first degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting in September in Mississauga.

The police were called to the area of Hull Street and Airport Road in Mississauga around 8 p.m. on September 17, following reports of rioting between two groups of men.

According to the police, two men were shot during the altercation. Both victims were taken to the hospital. One of the men, a 21-year-old man from Brampton, later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have said the shooting was the culmination of multiple incidents involving up to 20 men between the two groups.

On Thursday, investigators arrested a 16-year-old from Brampton in connection with the murder. He is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and numerous firearm-related offenses.

He appeared in court the same day. Investigators cannot reveal the name of the suspect, in accordance with the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.

Police previously arrested 18-year-old Jastaran Sandhu of Mississauga on September 18. He is also charged with first degree murder.
