10 things to know about Luis Medina, the commissioner of the ‘Masks case’

When in 1998 the Duke of Feria tried to commit suicide by cutting his wrists, Luis took him to the hospital. In 2011 he recounted in ‘Vanity Fair’: «Then he regretted it. He told me: ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry’. I answered: ‘Dad, if it’s not for me, it’s for you, because I want you to be here and to be alive.’ He was also the only one to visit him regularly when, shortly after, he was admitted to a psychiatric facility. On August 4, 2001, on the verge of turning 59, he died of an overdose of barbiturates.
