1 person dead, 2 injured in collision on Highway 7 in Acton | The Canadian News

The OPP says officers continue to investigate a fatal collision in Acton Sunday night.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says OPP officers and Halton police were called to Highway 7 between the Fourth and Fifth lines around 7:20 p.m. to receive reports of a collision between a sedan and a van.

“Investigators believe that the driver of the passenger car somehow lost control and was eventually attacked by the oncoming SUV,” Schmidt said in a video posted on Twitter.

“The driver of that passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene.”

He said the driver and passenger of the van were taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

“It was snowing, muddy, wet and slippery at the time of the accident, and investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what happened,” he said, while noting that both vehicles suffered significant damage.

Schmidt said he would provide more information as it becomes available.
